There are literally hundreds of guitar instructional courses (Guitar Lessons)offered on the Internet. We will only review the cream of the crop here. We rate all these quite high for that very reason.
This year’s review includes three Online Learning Sites: JamPlay.com, Guitar Tricks.com and Jamorama.com. These are top quality sites that are reasonably priced. As with all online guitar lessons you should make sure you have DSL, Cable Modem or other broadband hookup because the streaming videos can be bandwidth hogs. Some of these sites claim that you can access your lessons from anywhere in the world. But, in reality, it is just not possible to get any value from these type of sites with slow Internet connections. So, beware!
Our favorites are the DVD/CD/Paper Manual type of courses. They don’t require an Internet connection to access and use. And, they are not plagued with jerky bandwidth problems. The one we reviewed here is more expensive to get started with than the online courses, but if you need to stop practicing for a while, you will still have the materials and you can restart at your own convenience. Personally we just like to have something in our hands.
Toward the end of this page we review a specialty web site that is not technically a well rounded learning experience. However it is quite useful for practice purposes. 50Blues is a great site to use to download backing tracks for your practice needs (it’s a lot cheaper than hiring a band:-).
