I’m having trouble reading it.
I have a 6 string right-hand guitar and (from the thickest string) see the strings go from lowest pitch e a d g b e
However, tab looks exactly like that…only the strings are switched(e b g d a e)
am I reading this wrong?

CleanTab has a great page on how to learn guitar tablature. The hardest part is orienting yourself with the guitar. After that it is as easy as 1,2,3!
Here is their page:

Starting out with a right hand guitar is a mistake for the exact reason you are showing… it’s confusing enough without having to flip the music mentally.
In addition… if you play a left hand guitar like everyone else, then you can be in any bar in any country and borrow a standard guitar from one of the guys in the band and play along with the band… there is a lot to say about that ability…
I’ve never understood why people insist on starting out on a right hand guitar.
You will get used to it in time gutiar tab is written upside down
Even though it seems strange, once you get used to it, it makes sense because that’s the way you view the guitar in normal playing position. If it was written from the other way round it would actually be a bit harder to read. Here’s some more info that might help.

I think youre reading it right……in tab the bottom line is the low E, and the top line is the High E, its kinda like reading the tab is like looking down at your guitar while you are holding it (kinda upside down)
yea imagine the guitar laying on its back with the strings toward the sky. that is how it would look on your guitar tab you can even lay your tab on top of the guitar to see the comparrison. so lets say that your strings are
e——————————-
b——————————-
g——————————-
d——————————-
a——————————-
e——————————- <—- this is your top e string on your guitar (the metel thick one)
hope this helps
this messed me up for a while
i believe, i havent read it in a while, but i believe it is upside down from the guitar when you are holding it…
one thing you could do is find a song you know how it sounds, and try and play it and read the tap once upside down, and once rightside up and see which one sounds right lol
